Shawn Foppe Appraisal (SFA) is a full service, residential real estate
appraisal company serving several counties in central and south western Illinois. SFA was established in 1998 and roughly 4,500 reports have been completed since that time. Clients include banks, mortgage companies, attorneys, AMCs, investors and other individuals. I have a vast experience appraising for FHA, REO, HECM, Rural Housing, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I am approved with dozens of national lenders. And, I regularly complete work for several local Banks.

I appraise single-family residence including real estate owned properties, condominiums, townhouses, residential lots, land (non-farm), and small multifamily dwellings.

In today's ever-changing market many appraisers have gone out of business. Some because they did not take the time to produce credible reports, they were just “form fillers”. Others went out of business because they could not market themselves. While others just couldn't keep up with the market changes. Why will SFA be around for decades to come? It's simply economics: supply and demand. When you consistently complete reliable and credible reports, there will always be a demand for your professional services. I utilize this experience to ensure that report findings are articulated in a way that the intended user can be led to the conclusion of value. And finally, my name is my reputation. The average age of an appraiser is over 50. Less than 17% of the appraisers in the nation are 35, or under. I fall in that 17%, but I know the value of an appraisal can truly be priceless. While price does not drive quality, quality does dictate price. Several hours a month are devoted to industry changes and education. This education, and often reflection, is required to ensure that all my appraisals are performed to standards above and beyond the minimum levels required by the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
